Understanding the Attorney Disciplinary System in New Mexico (2022) Credits: 1.0 EP

The Disciplinary Board of the New Mexico Supreme Court is responsible for investigating complaints alleging that a lawyer has violated the New Mexico Rules of Professional Conduct. This presentation will discuss how the Disciplinary Board operates, including how complaints are processed by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, what a disciplinary investigation consists of, how disciplinary hearings are conducted, the types of discipline that may be imposed if a violation of the Rules is proven, and proactive efforts taken by the Board to support attorneys’ compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct.
