Using a “mock” meeting of the Ethics Advisory Committee of the State Bar, this presentation will discuss a variety of timely and difficult ethical questions developed through hypothetical fact scenarios.
Speakers:
James T. Reist : Jim practices law in the Albuquerque law firm of Smidt, Reist & Keleher, P.C. He practices primarily in the areas of business and commercial law and litigation as well as legal ethics and professional responsibility matters. He serves as chair of the Ethics Advisory Committee of the State Bar of New Mexico and has been a member of the Committee for over 20 years. He was appointed to the Client Protection Fund Commission beginning January 1, 2016, and currently serves as chair of the Commission.

Feliz Angelica Rael is a practicing attorney in the areas of elder law and healthcare law. She graduated from the UNM School of Law in 2001 and has managed her own law firm since 2010. Feliz has been a member of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association since 2006 and served as the 2019 President of the New Mexico Guardianship Association, and has been a member of the NM State Bar Ethics Advisory Committee since 2008.
