Attorney Ethics and the 2020 Election Lawsuits
Credits: 1.0 EP
Since the 2020 presidential election, the campaign for incumbent President Donald Trump and others have filed over 60 lawsuits contesting vote counting, vote certification, and the election process itself. Most of these cases have been dropped or dismissed. Many have been described by judges, lawyers, and laypeople as frivolous, meritless, and unsupported by fact. Citing those concerns, some observers have called on courts and state bar organizations to sanction or discipline the attorneys litigating these suits. But are these measures warranted? Join Professors David Stout and Alejandro Rettig y Martinez of the UNM School of Law for a discussion of this question.
