Speaker:

Sonia Gipson Rankin is a Professor of Law at the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she teaches Torts, Technology, and Family Law. Her work, combining a background in computer science with a focus on legal justice, has been published in the Washington and Lee Law Review, New York University Law Review Online, Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering, and Wisconsin Law Review. She is actively involved in the legal community, serving as an American Bar Foundation Fellow, a member of the New Mexico Supreme Court Commission on Equity and Justice, and a former president of the New Mexico Black Lawyers Association. Professor Gipson Rankin is part of the Interdisciplinary Working Group on Algorithmic Justice, advising on AI-related issues, and frequently speaks on topics such as AI, technology, algorithmic justice, and implicit bias. Her insights have been featured in media outlets like BBC World News, Reuters, NPR, and Yahoo! Finance, reflecting her commitment to inspiring justice and excellence.
