In this session from the 2022 Business Law Institute, Carlos Martinez discusses the history of Cannabis Law,
explains LECUA (Medical Cannabis), provides an overview of the legal
disciplines included in Cannabis Law and regulations on personal consumption,
business plans, legal entities, limits, fees, and costs. Carlos also
explains the criminal history screening, expungement, arrest, and conviction
records, as well as zoning and water laws, and taxes.

Speakers:
Carlos N. Martinez is a cannabis and psychedelics law attorney and trial litigator at Legal Solutions of New Mexico, LLC. He is the founder of the New Mexico State Bar Cannabis Law Section and currently serves on the board of directors. Carlos also practices family law and is a member of the Family Law Section’s board of directors, serving as the Section’s budget officer. He has represented a variety of medical and recreational cannabis companies, including manufacturers, producers, and retail dispensary owners. He holds degrees in accounting, finance, an MBA in international business, a juris doctorate, and anticipates completing his LLM in Tax in 2023.
